Abstract A summary of the resource. Pretende-se, com este estudo, compreender a percepção que jornalistas de veículos impressos do Distrito Federal possuem de notícias sobre suicidio. Com consulta a bibliografia e auxílio de entrevistas com jornalistas e profissionais de outras áreas, esta monografia busca responder como é orientada a prática jornalística nos três jornais de maior circulação paga do Distrito Federal, partindo da dúvida sobre a publicação deste tipo de material. Diariamente, cerca de três mil pessoas se matam em todo o mundo e aproximadamente 25 destes casos ocorrem no Brasil. Para a Organização Mundial da Saúde, os meios de comunicação podem ter papel ativo no combate ao suicidio, mas o tema não tem conseguido grande atenção da imprensa. Pode-se concluir, por meio da pesquisa realizada, que os profissionais encontraram uma forma comum de atuação, fruto da cultura oral das redações, apesar da falta de debate acerca deste tema. Assim, a factualidade do ato suicida acabou afastada das páginas jornalísticas. Tido como questão de saúde pública, o suicídio se torna notícia quando faz outra vitima ou em reportagens que visam diminuir as ocorrências deste tipo de morte. | It is intended, with this study, to comprehend the perception that print media journalists in Distrito Federal have on suicide news. With bibliography consults and the help of interviews with journalists and specialists from other areas, this study searches to answer how the journalistic practice are oriented in the three paid newspapers that circulate the most in Distrito Federal, starting from the questions about the publication of this sort of material.
